I suffer from hip pain - are you able to help?
This could be ITB Friction Syndrome. I see this particular condition very often. It’s common in runners, cyclists and the general public. The iliotibial band is a thick band of fascia on the lateral aspect of the knee, extending from the outside of the pelvis, over the hip and knee, and inserting just below the knee.
What is it? The ITB becomes tight due to over use and lack of post training care, this leads to the ITB rubbing over the Greater Trochanter.
Symptoms: Pain on palpation of the lateral hip. Pain on lateral hip when participating in sport. Walking or laying on your side can be uncomfortable. You can’t increase the flexibility of the ITB so regular foam rolling of it will help.
Want to know more? I will always conduct a thorough examination before treatment. Give me a call to discuss how I can help.
Can you help treat Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Carpal Tunnel can be treated with acupuncture or stretching - other exercises may help release tension in the wrist. Busy office worker? Contrary to what you may have been told, your wrists shouldn’t actually rest on those cushy wrist pads that sit below your keyboard or mouse pad. They should be used as a guide for how high your wrists should be; i.e. The hands should hover over the wrist when at rest and the pads should only be used as a tool to rest your wrists in between typing sessions.
I have a competition in a weeks time - can deep tissue massage be of benefit?
Go for a deep tissue massage five to six days before your competition if you're used to getting regular massages. Ensure you drink plenty of water after a deep tissue massage. If you get a massage any closer to your event, make it a light, relaxing Swedish massage - deep tissue is not recommended to near to an event.
